New Album Singing River Released

5/17/2021

Chad Elliott's 25th album, Singing River, is now available! Elliott traveled to Muscle Shoals, AL with famed Iowa musician and producer Bo Ramsey to lay the tracks. Singing River was recorded at FAME Recording Studios, where music legends Etta James, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and many others laid renowned songs into the fabric of time. Ramsey, who produced Singing River, lent his signature sound on guitar. He was joined by two original Muscle Shoals Swampers, Spooner Oldham and David Hood. The new Americana/roots/blues mix that arose in Singing River is exactly the sound Elliott was hoping to create. The album was released on May 17, 2021. Purchase the album here.

A Pandemic Year in Review

4/13/2021

A message from Chad:

"2020 was a hell of a year. It was very hard for everyone. I won't dwell long on all of the things that were lost, or how difficult it was making a living as a full time musician whose family's sole income previously derived from live performance. We all have our own story to tell during that difficult year. Perhaps the hardest for me, was to see the hard earned full calendar my wife had booked, our family's financial security, be erased in only a few weeks time. It was heart wrenching. Actually...no...it was more like a gut punch.

"But there were also some amazing things that came out of 2020.

"
First of all, my perspective shifted drastically just when it needed some serious shifting. It made me grateful for all of the work I have been given in the past. After more than a decade of playing an average of over 200 shows a year, I had become used to the continuous grind. When it came to a screeching halt, I realized how numb I had become to the very thing I sought inspiration from when I began 25 years ago. It forced me to pivot and imagine new and creative ways to engage my fans and community.

"I was also so very fortunate to spend more time with my family while creating a thriving art business out of my home studio. I was grateful for my fans.

"All in all...my takeaway from last years trials was this: flow, adapt and thrive with a heart filled with Gratitude.

"I am so happy to be playing music again. All of the new shows filling my calendar are wonderful. But, more importantly, my perspective has been renewed and I feel like the gained insights from last year make each upcoming performance more of a "life event"... in a noble profession of which I hope I am worthy.

"I look forward to seeing all of you out there in this big ol' world. Big Love and carry on!"

Tangle with the Ghost set for release Nov. 13, 2020

Chad Elliott’s 24th studio album, Tangle with the Ghost, is a rich collection of Americana roots songs. It was recorded alongside other Iowa artists at Old School Studios in Auburn, IA with producer/artist Todd Partridge.

The record, set for a Nov. 13, 2020 release, is sonically diverse. Each track is like a painting or vignette reckoning with the dark night of the soul. “Sometimes you must do the things that frighten you the most. That’s why I still tangle with the ghost,” Elliott sings on the title track.

While not always autobiographical, each character conveyed seems to be wrestling with their own ghosts of a vivid past. Elliott spent many years immersing in America’s subcultures, roaming its backroads and alleyways and Tangle with the Ghost is result.

Tangle with the Ghost will be released as a digital download only. Find out how to download the album here: https://chadelliott.hearnow.com/tangle-with-the-ghost. (Downloads will not work until Nov. 13, 2020.)

Introducing: The Wildervan

Chad Elliott has a new ride: The Wildervan. This new van will allow Elliott the opportunity to transport whole art exhibits to and from galleries across the country. It will also serve as a home-on-wheels for him while he tours the country. In fact, he even plans to create works of art while touring, now that he'll have the space he needs.

Elliott is currently working to renovate the inside of the van to accommodate life on the road. So far, he has a bed and a storage area for his sound equipment. He will be adding much, much more, but it'll take time and funds.

Be on the lookout at shows for the Wildervan!
